Today, Kym and Amber were joined by Opera singer Chelsie for a chat

As it has become normal for the show now, Chelsie brought in an item for show and tell. She brought her mother’s engagement ring, which she explained that she was given it after her mother passed. She said that she wears it for performances and that it acts as a sort of good luck charm. She told the story of how one time, after wearing it, a white feather blew onto her.

Co-Host Amber wanted to get in on the fun and told the story behind a small ‘best friends’ keychain on their house keys which they have had for almost a decade!

Onto Chelsie’s singing career, she’s off to London to perform at the Royal Foundation’s Homewards Year 3 coalition at  Lambeth Palace. She has a media briefing to talk about what’s going on in Newport and some of her story.

She was initially going to do a 20 minute set, however that has changed due to the recent weather warnings. She is going to now perform one song, however, the organisers have said that it will lead into some interest from people attending into to looking into her work elsewhere.

Kym asked Chelsie who her favourite classical singer was, to which she replied with the classic Luciano Pavarotti. She also said Jessye Norman as a secondary answer.

As is the tradition every week, we played a song on kazoo. On theme, we played a classical song, that being Queen of the Night Aria from Mozart’s ‘The Magic Flute”.

Other than opera, Chelsie has always loved rock, pop and musical theatre. She said that of she were to do a tribute act, she would choose Adele for looks. She would also love to tribute as Cristina Aguilera.

Chelsie has said that she wants to record some songs, but it isn’t feasible at the moment. Hopefully, it happens soon.
