Today Kym was joined by Kat and Jon from duo Tusker and solo artist Oscar for a chat

To start the show, we had a listen to “Another Dreamer” by Tusker. The song is a brand new unreleased track from their upcoming album. There is currently no release date but it should be soon. Another Dreamer is about both Kat and Jon’s Mums or just Mums in general, about how we should listen to them but we don’t listen to them.

In terms of the song writing process, Jon does all of the music whereas Kat does all of the lyrics for Tusker songs.

On the topic of upcoming news, the Music Trail event in Newport is happening next week. Oscar is playing on the stage in John Frost Square at 11:10, keep an eye out for him!

As for new releases for Oscar, his most recent release is a single called Romance. However, he talked about a parody song he released called Feed Up The Machine, a parody of Build Our Machine.

On the topic of sillier music, Tusker has played with a number of unusual instruments. Namely:

  • Didgerie doo

  • Wobble board

  • Irish Bouzouki

  • Koto

Oscar added that he has played with Koto on Garageband.

Tusker is from Porthcawl however they travel far for gigs, one example is that they’ve gone up to Beacon for a gig. They said that as long as the place they go is a place where people love music, that’s where they’ll go.

The ever loved Kazoos were brought out again and all five in the studio came together to play Mah Na Mah Na on Kazoo! It ended up quite well.

One of the final songs we listened to was Disappear by Tusker. Jon had the music for years before he met Kat. Kat wrote the lyrics after he brought her the song

As for what’s next, of course Oscar is playing in the music trail. Tusker are playing at The Bell Inn in Caerleon next Sunday afternoon. Tusker is also going back to the studio to get more music made.
