Thank You for Being Part of Our 2025 đź’›

As the year draws to a close, I wanted to take a moment to say something simple, but important.

Thank you.

If you’ve listened, watched, shared, commented, volunteered, donated, or even just had Newport City Radio on in the background while getting on with your day, then you’ve been part of what made 2025 such a special year.

A year powered by people

Throughout 2025, Newport City Radio did what it’s always tried to do best:
keep it local and keep it live.

That meant being there day in, day out.
Sharing local stories.
Championing local music.
Shouting about what’s happening around Newport.
And supporting community events and causes right across the year.

From spring festivals and summer celebrations to autumn food events and winter charity appeals, the station stayed connected to the rhythm of the city — sometimes loudly, sometimes quietly, but always with purpose.

Finding new ways to connect with you

After all… it is your Newport City Radio!

This year, more people found us than ever before.

Our Facebook community grew to over 10,100 followers, and we spent more time leaning into video — experimenting with reels, TikTok clips, YouTube content, behind-the-scenes moments, presenter snippets and event coverage.

We also saw a real lift in listen again towards the end of the year. That told us something important: people want local content that fits around their lives. That’s something we’ll keep building on.

Powered by volunteers

Behind everything you hear, watch or read is a group of people giving their time because they believe in what local radio can do.

Presenters, producers, tech support, social media helpers, event teams, organisers and problem-solvers — our volunteers are the heartbeat of Newport City Radio. Their commitment, creativity and generosity turn ideas into shows, interviews into podcasts, and plans into real community impact.

More than radio...

For us, Newport City Radio has always been about more than playlists or schedules.

It’s about projecting a more positive Newport
It’s all about connection, representation, discovery and pride in where we live.

Whether that’s giving a platform to a local artist, helping a charity reach more people, promoting a community festival, or simply being a familiar voice  — it all matters.

Looking ahead
As we head into a new year, we do so feeling grateful for the trust you’ve put in us, and excited about what’s still to come.

Thank you for listening.
Thank you for reading.
Thank you for being part of our community.

Here’s to continuing the journey together.
