Kingsway Shopping Centre Undergoing Six Month Transformation

The popular Kingsway shopping centre is undergoing a six month transformation since the Bristol based entrepreneur Niall Leighton-Boyce bought it.

The centre has welcomed eleven new businesses in the six months since it was bought at auction for £615,000.

The empty units have now been replaced with many independent sellers, offering things from fresh foods and sweet treats to tech products and toiletries. Not to mention possibly the most exciting element which is the fact that we- Newport City Radio have just moved in! You can find us at unit 42, just next to where the Wilko’s used to be. Don’t be shy to pop in and say hello!

The new tenants of the centre say the support since moving in has been amazing and Boyce still has plans to sign even more businesses up to move in. So why not come down and take a look at what the new places have to offer.

Newport Food Festival is Back

Newport’s food festival will be returning this October for three whole days! It will be the 14th year of this fun-filled weekend, you can bring your family and friends to enjoy all varieties of food from around the world.

It kicks off on Friday the 11th, with the food festival supper at the Mercure hotel, which will be hosting a Michelin star menu prepared by Hywel Jones. Fancy right?

Then, on Saturday, you can expect the city centre to be thriving with life as the food festival stalls begin to fill the streets. Newport Market will also be hosting the chef demonstrations, where you can watch the Teen Chef competition from Newport Youth academy.

On the Sunday, you can catch all the food stalls you may have missed the day before, along with the street entertainment that will be taking over the high street. If you’re with your kids, you can even bring them to the childrens disco that will be taking place at the Corn Exchange.

There’s something for everyone! So make sure you don’t miss it.

A Historic Building Demolition Just Cost an Extra £5,000 Because of a Seagull

A Historic Building Demolition has just Cost an extra £5000 because of what? A Seagull…

You might have known about Newport Cenre being demolished, but did you know that it has cost an extra £5000 just because of a seagull?

Like us, you are probably wondering how this came about. Well, the project ended up being delayed by 40 whole days because a seagull was nesting, clearly very comfortably and simply didn’t want to leave, meaning the project lost all this time and had to overspend by 5 grand. Who’d have known a bird could end up causing so much disruption.
