Marcus was thrilled. He was on a real boat — cruising down the River Thames with his class. There were sandwiches, seagulls, and Big Ben glinting in the sunshine.

Marcus leaned on the rail, pirate hat flapping in the wind. “Imagine if this was a pirate ship,” he whispered. “We could sail it all the way to Treasure Island!”

Nelson wobbled excitedly in his socket. He loved adventures — but didn’t love the breeze. With a sudden gust, pop! out he came.

“NOOOO!” shouted Marcus.

SPLASH!

Nelson had dived overboard, right into the Thames.

“Man over-eye!” yelled Marcus.

“Eye overboard!” cried Lucy, who’d come along too — with Iris, of course.

The boat crew slowed the engine. A deckhand tossed a net into the water and fished Nelson out, dripping and smug.

“Cheeky little eyeball,” the sailor chuckled.

Marcus cuddled his soggy eye. “Nelson, honestly.”

Nelson blinked once. Happily.

And possibly… a little bit fishy.

He keeps the crew here, entertained with true tales about a life with Nelson the naughty eye and has agreed to share some of them as children’s stories.
