ello and welcome to another edition of my ongoing musical series, Dani’s Music Box. So far I’ve taken you all on a rollercoaster journey around the world, showcasing music I particularly find solace in.
The final week of the year will be particularly short, as the band in question have only two releases. Having said that, they’re a good band that I’ve liked from the start and anticipate great things for them.
So let’s get down to the nitty gritty and expose this band as the fresh young talent that they are. Hailing from Howell, New Jersey, is today’s band which is the Post Hardcore band, Youth In Revolt.
The band formed in 2012. The first song they released was a cover of Kesha’s, ‘Die Young’ in 2013, shortly followed by their debut single, ‘Locked & Loaded’ (2013). In 2013, I was enjoying the last year of my twenties and also by this point, my solo project had recorded eight rough demos.
The following year, they saw their debut release surface, Love Is A Liar’s Game EP (2014). By this point my own musical project had grown and I was looking for musicians to work with, but nothing presented itself to me until the following year.
At the start of 2015, I started volunteering with Newport City Radio and this is where I recruited other musicians for what was still my solo project. During the first quarter of 2017, I’d decided to change the project from a solo project to a band project. A few lineup changes have happened, but that’s expected with any good band.
Also this year, Youth In Revolt released their debut album, The Broken (2017) which has featured on my show (Fridays at 11am). I can’t wait to hear more from this band and will be paying close attention to them.
