ewport City Radio's Love Live Music Awards has officially launched and the nominees for the Best Original Song have been announced. This week I am going to be taking you through each of our nominees so you can decide who gets your vote!
I was honoured to be part of the judging panel for this category and out of 24 entries we have managed to whittle it down to six nominees. Today we have local singer-songwriter Bryony Sier with her original song 'Crossroads'.
Bryony’s song was one of the first songs I listened to during the judging process and was on my shortlist straight away. The deep, bluesy tones of the guitar mixed with her delicate vocals caught my attention right from the get go.
The song is about coming to some kind of crossroads in your life, not knowing which path to take but also knowing that you can’t run away from your problems. I adore the lyrics and the message of this song.
I also adore the very simple yet sombre instrumentation of this song. You can tell instantly that the song it is of a county/blues style from the different layers of acoustic guitar which give the song that deep and dramatic feel to it – so dramatic that I feel like it should be in one of those American dramas like The Walking Dead or Nashville!
Check out this song by watching the music video I made along with fellow Newport City Radio member Gareth Willey and local filmmaker Haydn Rushworth of the Neon and cast your vote here!
