ello and welcome back to my monthly music series here on Newport City Radio where I share with you what tracks I have been in love with this past month!
There’s been a range of music that I haven’t stopped listening to this month, so let’s jump right into it!
Idle Worship – Paramore
This one surprised me – I was sure that 'Rose Coloured Boy' was going to be the Paramore song that made this list! However, this song totally overshadowed that one by the end of the month. I can’t help but mime my heart out, wherever I am when this song comes on. I also find myself skipping the rest of the bangers on Paramore’s new album to get to this one! This song is simply perfection – from the angsty, passionate and relatable lyrics to the fabulous instrumentation. I Love it!
Young and Menace – Fall Out Boy
Fall Out Boy’s latest single dropped at the end of April, and I have been obsessed with it ever since! This is a very different but amazing song. Rock and Dubstep come together on this one to create a loud and punchy track. The way the song flows from low and soft, then dropping with a huge thump, becoming so loud and almost overwhelming is something glorious. Patrick’s vocal performance on this song is everything. You can hear so much emotion in his voice, making me love the song even more.
Don’t Kill My Vibe – Sigrid
This song found itself here when it came up on a random playlist I shuffled on Spotify and it caught my attention straight away. The slow start, featuring a deep voice distortion before Sigrid’s voice kicks in is something I adore. Then the song slowly builds up and then a bouncing beat kicks in and I can’t help but bop along. I also adore the lyrics to this one and I think that’s the main reason that I love it so much. This song is a big up yours to someone who has treated you horribly and whoever thinks that they have some kind of power over you when they obviously do not. These lyrics are extremely relatable and again, this is the reason I have been loving this track so much.
Believer – Imagine Dragons
I have never really been a massive fan of Imagine Dragons over the years, but their new singles have found their way into my music library and this track, in particular, has been infecting my ears this month. This song is just so catchy! The rhythm in the instrumentation and vocals is so infectious that I can’t help but jig whenever it comes on. I also adore the huge beat drop into every chorus – great dabbing material! This song, and their other single called ‘Thunder’ have actually got me super hyped for their new album.
Mr DJ – Jennifer Hudson ft Mase
This one is not an actual song that has been released, but it’s down to our own Adam L. Davies that I love this song. It is from Adam Sandler’s latest Netflix film Sandy Wexler, but it is such a great and catchy song that I cannot stop listening to. It is also a very funny film that I recommend you check out if you can. Now we know.
