o start a new Season – and by that I mean show – and a new year, is both an incredible achievement and exciting, to see what mysteries and mayhem will ensue. For that Season to be The X Files alone, is reason enough to lock myself away for two and a half months and review what will be Season 11.
he show never expected to make it passed its first Season back in 93-94. Well 25 years later, the world will get to see fan favourites, Mulder (David Duchovny), Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) together again – busting balls and fighting crime – along with some other classics and new faces to the show.
The show is set to air on 3 January 2018 on Fox in the United States. No date has been confirmed as yet, when it will be aired in the United Kingdom, amid rumours of a 16 January UK air date. It has been confirmed, however, that it will air shortly after the US date. Let’s get down to it then.
Jesus Christ! I do apologise but have you seen the trailer? If you haven’t then fear not, as I’ll be including the trailer at the end of this blog which is, spoiler free. As the saying goes, ‘the easiest place to start is at the beginning,’ but in true X Files fashion, I have to start at the end of Season 10.
We ended on a cliff hanger – I was half expecting it – which annoys me as much as it excites me. And what excites me about Season 11 is every damn thing.
The main story arc surrounding Season 11 is Mulder and Scully’s son William, who Scully gave up for adoption during Season 9, for fear that something or someone was after him. An additional story arc which alledgedy ties in with this, is Skinner’s background, which fans have been calling for, for a long time.
Will Mulder die in that car? Obviously not if he’s in the trailer. Shoot. I missed that spoiler, oh well. Have we seen the last of the Smoking Man – who goes by many aliases – no, not by a long shot. His most famous quote is, “you can’t kill the devil.” And like that, he keeps coming back.
Will all the unanswered questions surrounding William be answered this Season? Uh, probably not but maybe, as I’ve just come to the realisation of who one of the new characters will be, played by Haley Joel Osmont, by I could be wrong. Also Chris Carter revealed as the 2017 New York Comic Con in October that Season 11 will end on a cliff hanger. So expect to see a Season 12, but not before we’ve seen Season 11.
The following trailer has no spoilers for the upcoming Season, so sit back, relax and enjoy. Keep checking Channel 5 throughout December and into January for an official air date.
