Graystings by Xania Boreanaz
Xania Boreanaz is the pen name of Michelle Garcia, an author and psychic who lives in Newbridge, South Wales. In addition to writing books at an amazing speed, she also practices tarot readings and has a fascination with the supernatural.
It will be no surprise that all her novels thus far have been romantic horror stories featuring vampires, the devil and all things mysterious. Michelle is an animal lover who works tirelessly for animal rights. She volunteers at Newport City Radio, where she is an editor on the website’s blog team.
Graystings is the first of Xania’s novels to be published. It is about a recently widowed woman who discovers frightening things about her husband and parents after accepting a job that she doesn’t recall applying for.
Elise Blount finds herself working for a bewitching man who is a world leader in the study of diseases of the blood. She finds herself trapped in a world of vampires from which she cannot escape yet she’s not entirely sure that she wants to. As she settles into her new job and life at Graystings, a remote Scottish Castle she uncovers secrets about her past: A very distant past.
It took me a while to actually start reading this book, simply because it’s not the genre of fiction that I would normally choose to read, although I am aware that fantasy fiction and horror are currently extremely popular. I quickly got into the story and found myself enjoying it immensely. I even began believing that vampires could well be all around us and I’ve started looking for clues in people I meet! I love a book that makes me think long after I have finished reading it.
This book is a good size for readers who like a story that is not too long. Personally, I’m happy to take on a big meaty book with hundreds of pages but I know that often people are put off by one which is tome –like. For those who like a quick read, this one will fit the bill nicely, slipping easily into a handbag for a plane or train journey.
I spoke to the author about Graystings and asked if there will be another book as I’m keen to know more about the characters in their past lives. The origins of this tale are set in a fascinating time in history and Xania assures me that she has plans to write the back story: a prequel, if you will.
If you like a vampire tale with a modern twist yet links to the distant past, you will enjoy Graystings.
Graystings is currently available from Amazon as a paperback and also as a kindle download. It will shortly be available from the author directly.
Since launching Graystings, Xania Boreanaz has published her second novel, The Devil She Won’t and also the first in a series: Dating the Devil. They too are both available via Amazon.
