He’ll be sharing some of his new music with us and chatting about what’s been going on since his last visit to Newport City Radio a couple of years ago. Before his appearance on the radio, we thought it would be fun to get a peek into Ben’s world and this is what we discovered…..
Q. What do you consider to be your best physical feature?
A. Probably my eyes. It makes me feel special that they're the rarest colour: green!
Q. What is your best personality trait?
A. I like to think that I'm fair and kind. I'm not in line for any humanitarian awards but I try and do a little good whenever I can.
Q. Do you have a bad habit?
A. Yeah - I have never been able to get up early so now that I rarely have anything I need to do in the morning, I often get up around 10am.
Q. What was the first single or album you ever owned?
A. Decade in the Sun: a greatest hits album by The Stereophonics, released in 2008
Q. Describe the best birthday cake it the world
A. A couple of Tesco's own brand, Raspberry Swiss Rolls. Nice and easy!
Q. If you could be a cartoon character for a day. Who would you be and why?
A. Top Cat: So much charisma for a cat. Also, he has plenty of friends.
Q. The best sandwich filling is?
A. It varies depending on what I'm having it for. If it's a snack then it has to be one piece of thin, white bread with McCoy’s Cheese and onion crisps inside.
Q. What is your dream car?
A. A red, Classic Mini Cooper S with the fog lights and a loud exhaust. It's been my dream car since I can remember wanting a Car.
Q. What was the last book you read?
A. Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail 1972. Hunter S. Thompson's account of the battle for the 1972 US presidency.
Q. What musical instruments do you play?
A. Guitar and Ukulele at the moment but Piano is the biggest goal.
Q. Favourite band or singer?
A. It varies all the time. At the moment it's Father John Misty.
Q. What was the best concert you’ve ever been to?
A.The Libertines at the Motorpoint OR Gorillaz at their Demon Dayz Festival.
Q. Whose voice would you like to have for your satnav?
A. Freddie mercury singing all the directions would make turning around at the nearest opportunity endlessly more exciting!
Q. What were your favourite sweets when you were 10?
A. The same sweets as now; Fizzy Cherries.
Q. If I came to your house for dinner, what would you cook for me?
A. Chilli pitta breads. It's hard to explain but they’re lovely... as long as you like spicy food!
Q. What song best describes you?
A, The Masterplan by Oasis.
Q. What is most likely to make you cry?
A. Seeing someone persevere through adversity and come out the other side successfully. That or Toy Story 3!
Q. What was the best decade for music?
A. The 1950s; Music was becoming what we all know and love and the music from the 50s inspired the best music in the 1960s.
Q. If you could go back in time, which decade would you choose to be a teenager in? Why?
A. I would choose the 2010s, the decade I was a teen in! I was able to pick and choose the best bits of culture from the decades previous. There has been good and bad in every decade of the 20th and 21st Century butt in many respects, right now is the best the world has ever been and I think people forget that all too easily.
Q. If you could share a stage with anyone, dead or alive, who would you choose?
A. Noel Gallagher's music was the reason I pursued this career, so to go full circle and share a stage with him would really be the final goal for me.
