elcome back to the first What’s On guide of 2018. With Christmas a distant memory and the cold of winter still biting, I’ve got a round-up of some of the best inside events on offer this weekend.
Family Explorers Challenge
When: Saturday @ 10am – 3pm
Where: Newport Museum and Art Gallery
Rediscover the Museum and Art Gallery this Saturday, with new challenges and activities. This activity is advertised as suitable for children aged 5-12 years along with a grown-up family member. Collect a quiz sheet on arrival and start exploring! There are certificates for all families who complete the challenge on the day.
When: Saturday @ 10am – 12 noon
Where: St David Lewis RC Church, Bettws
Price: Free entry
A relaxed family church, with free creative activities to engage children and families. Activities include art and craft, colour and mess, Lego and a special Minecraft challenge. No booking needed.
When: Saturday @ 2pm – 5 pm
Where: Newport Centre
Price: Minimum donation of £1
Join Newport’s first roller derby, the Riot City Ravens, as they take on SWAT B’s team. A great opportunity to see something new and support a local team. No need to book, just pay on the door.
When: Saturday @ 6pm – 9pm
Where: Tiny Rebel, Wern Industrial Estate, NP10 9FQ
Price: £3 per person
A chance to swap those unwanted Christmas gifts and raise some money for Gwent Wildlife Trust. Entry entitles you to swap your (new) unwanted items and also enters you into a prize draw. There will also be an art sale, raffle with prizes and the chance to learn about the work that Gwent Wildlife Trust does in Newport.
