e part of a global craze with the UK's newest Kindness Rock project. An excellent way to get outside, explore our city and spread a bit of kindness.
I co-run Newport Pebble Art (NPT Rocks), a community group where children and adults alike can have fun creating and hiding rocks, as well as finding little treasures of their own. Whether you are a family, nursery, school or community group, this project is suitable for you!
Newport has some lovely areas, from parks to woodlands and streams. Even the city centre could play host to these small acts of kindness.
How does it work?
The idea is to decorate rocks and hide them in different public locations to bring cheer to someone else's day. It's simple; paint rocks and hide them for others to find. Then go on a treasure hunt yourself.
With Newport Pebble Art there is so much fun to be had, all whilst getting some fresh air. This is meant to be fun for everyone of all ages and abilities and gets people out and about, having fun and being creative.
Join the Facebook group to access clues on where rocks have been hidden, share your finds and post about your own rock creations.
What’s the point?
This is a brand-new incarnation of The Kindness Rocks Project, bringing this fun hobby to Newport.
The goals of this project are simple:
- Have fun
- Get creative
- Get exploring
- Spread some kindness
One message, at the right moment, can change someone’s day or even someone’s life. A message of motivation, a painting to raise a smile – this could be just what someone needs to brighten their day. This is your chance to spread a little kindness.

How can I get involved?
You can join the Facebook group right now. Gather the clues and head out on your very own treasure hunt.
If your feeling creative decorate your own rocks and hide them around our city. Don’t forget to post on Facebook a clue to where your rocks are hiding.
