his month people across Newport will be meeting up for a coffee and a slice of cake, all in aid of Macmillan.
There are around 2.5 million people in the UK living with cancer right now, and Macmillan’s goal is to make sure that no one has to face it alone. You can be part of this important work by going along to one of the coffee mornings being held over the next few weeks. Enjoy some tasty treats, relax with a cup of tea and help Macmillan be there when they are most needed.
The first Macmillan coffee morning was way back in 1990, and since then it has spread throughout the UK to become a national campaign. Last year the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning campaign raised over £29 million to support people facing cancer. This year there are hundreds of coffee mornings being run across South Wales for this great cause.
The official date for World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is the 29th September, however events are being run throughout the month.
On the 9th September, a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan was held at St Julians RFC. Organiser Michelle has been running Macmillan Coffee Mornings for four years after seeing people close to her affected by cancer. She sees the event as her own small contribution to the work done by Macmillan. Well done to everyone involved!
