he popularity of yoga in the UK has been booming over the last decade. It is no longer a specialist fitness craze, but something enjoyed by people from all walks of life; young and old, male and female. Now has come the time to push things a bit further. 40 degrees further.
Newport’s first dedicated Hot Yoga venue has opened!
Hot Yoga Health is based in Baneswell and boasts a thirty person studio with shower facilities and on-site parking. Yoga classes are practised in a room heated to around 40°C which benefits from a constant supply of fresh, filtered air. This ensures the studio has a healthy atmosphere that is warm and humid, but not stuffy.
It is widely acknowledged that there are lots of health benefits to yoga. Breathing techniques produce more oxygenated blood, while stretching and compression of muscles aids circulation and toning of muscles. Yoga has also been linked to reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Hot Yoga is the practise of yoga postures, but in a hot environment. When you combine heat with yoga, it is intended to increase flexibility and provide a real cardiovascular workout. Sports stars such as Ryan Giggs & Andy Murray have both testified to the benefits of hot yoga.
Yoga for Everyone
Even the unfit can enjoy hot yoga. Geoff, founder of Hot Yoga Health, is a prime example. He is 67 and started practising hot yoga just two years ago.
Geoff had suffered with a bad back for many years; his lifestyle was sedentary and he did not exercise regularly. Hot yoga has revitalised him, he is now fitter, stronger and mentally sharper than before. Geoff claims that he now feels younger as a result of his Hot Yoga training.
It is thanks to Geoff’s life changing experience that he is now passionate about making sure as many people as possible get to try Hot Yoga. Therefore, Hot Yoga Health are offering a range of price plans to suit everyone, and will also be donating 5% of annual net profit to mental health charity Mind.
