n Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th of September, Newport Family Cycle Festival returns to Tredegar House, with Newport City Radio being your hosts for the Saturday from 10:00am until 5:00pm. On the Saturday you and your family will be able to enjoy cycle training, women and girls cycling, a BMX skills show and a bike maintenance workshop.
Market Stalls will include Changing Gearz, The Changing Gearz Project is part of the LIFT/CODI Youth Project within Blaenau Gwent; Caerphilly and Torfaen and is based in Griffithstown, Pontypool. Changing Gearz is part of Torfaen County Borough Council and initial funding came through the Lift/Codi programme which is funded as part of the regional collaboration funding from Welsh Government.
Frog Bikes, who are a small British company dedicated to making cycling fun for children. We believe that the lighter the bike, the easier it is for children to learn to ride, and to enjoy it more as they progress. Many kids' bikes on the market weigh nearly as much as the child.
Pedal Power, who are a charity based in Cardiff that encourages and enables children and adults of all ages and abilities to experience the benefits of cycling. We strive to remove the barriers to cycling that many people face and work to a key set of values.
Cycle Training Wales, who are Wales’s leading independent provider of cycle training services. We are a not-for-profit social enterprise which was established in 2008 by Andrew Burns and Nicholas Grant-Canham. Our aims are to promote well-being and the environmental benefits of cycling through education and skills training.
Sustrans,who are leading the way when it comes to helping Wales become a nation where walking and cycling are the normal way of getting about for local journeys. We have a wealth of experience of developing community led solutions and working with schools, communities, workplaces to enable people to choose healthier, cleaner and cheaper travel.
and finally Newport City Holmes who provide services to over 10,000 residents, leaseholders and shared owners in the city of Newport. Established in 2009, after Newport City Council transferred its housing stock to the new organisation, we have a passion for providing quality homes and services by investing in people, places and partnerships.
The following day will be an exlpore day where a ride to Caerleon of 20 miles round trip to Caerleon Amphitheatre along traffic tree level routes. The ride will be led by Sustrans. There will also be a ride to The Wetlands Nature Reserve, which will also be led by Sustrans. Women will be able to enjoy a bike ride led by Breeze and if you're feeling really energetic, you could join the bike ride to Cardiff Bay.
