We then continue our journey through the frosted forest, and the boy finally learns to kill the dear and put it to sleep with the dagger he got from his mother. We are then left on a cliff hanger with Kratos telling the boy that he is ready, for a new beginning with a beautiful landscape and a dragon flying in the sky. Showing God of War at the end of the demo.
We now have our first speaker Shawn Layden the head of Sony Interactive Entertainment, who then gives a shout out the composer to the God of War soundtrack Berin Macury, we are then told that we will be spending the entire conference with his orchestra. He then goes on about the heart breaking tragedies which took place in Orlando this weekend, and he sent his love from the PlayStation community to all those who were effected by such a tragic incident.
Layden now welcomes us all to the Historic Shrine Autorium, they have been away from the venue for a while, but they are back. They are delighted to be there because it is a temple of creativity, they are proud to be part of a vast and expansive team of story tellers, artist, engineers, musicians, and programmer’s, and actors, the massive and sometimes tiny teams, who creates works of art that we find ourselves getting lost in. That is what tonight is all about, for the next hour we are now told that we will be impressed by a line-up of games that is dazzling and transformative, with a few surprises along the way. Now we are going to go on the journey to see what Sony has to offer us at E3 2016.
We are now presented with another game by Bend Studio, showing stunning mountains, and landscapes of trees, to untouched landscapes, and an abandoned road filled with old, rusted cars. We are then shown a town in the mountains with houses and tents, with more old rusted cars, with their town turned into old and rusted graveyards, where the wilderness became the people in the game there only hope for survival, planes fell out of skies, trains stopped running, and the turbines shut down, and the world went dark. After some more cut scenes we are presented with the title of the game called Days Gone.
We are now presented with another game accompanied by more stunning music and a choir, with more mountains, and incredible architecture, and I have been waiting for this game since the PS3 it is The Last Guardian! We see a child accompanied by a large dog like with feathers creature, with this boy and creature solving puzzles and fighting off demons, we then witness that there are more than one of these creatures, with one looking rather menacing. I’m excited for this game to be finally released on October 25th 2016.
We are now thrown into another game with more beautiful music, and stunning architecture looking like a jungle infested ruin, accompanied by a caption ‘the world of the old ones ended ages ago’. We then see what the game is Horizon. Accompanied by another caption, ‘the masters of the new world are the machines’. With a young woman that seeks to uncover the secrets of the earth, but in order for her to get answers she must leave her tribe behind.
We are now inside the demo of what the world of Horizon is like, with old buildings combined with over grown trees, and a vast landscape as far as the eye could see, this game looks truly amazing. There is also a sense of religion in this game too because our characters aim is to cross the border, however there are corrupted machines, so she is blessed by the goddess for her help.
The cybernetic creatures in the game are called Watchers, and we see a pack of these creatures roaming the land. We now see one of our character’s abilities called Focus Scan, this enables us to look as the weaknesses, and what materials these creatures are made of. We now see a weapons wheel with all the weapons that our character can use, as we can see she is now using a bow.
She blows the cargo create from the monsters back, and is immediately in the line of attack as this creature has now gone into defence mode. She uses another one of her weapons like a slingshot and packs quite the punch. There also signs of natural wildlife such as rabbits, and but the looks of things you can craft your own traps, ranging from shock, explosive, and fire blaze trap.
Our character is then encountered by a Corrupted Watcher however our hero remains victorious as she gives the beast quite the pasting. She is now taking to the man that has travelled quite far from his village to warn her of what is out there, such as a Demon. We are also given the option to choose what we can say, which is nice and refreshing to see, making what you say matters to the outcome of the game.
In order to make it to the village she must make her way there as fast as possible, in order to do this she must over ride one of the cybernetic creatures to make her way there. After a little bit of traveling we now find ourselves at the village. We now come across our first boss battle, where our character must use her intelligence and whit’s in order to defeat this creature. This is where the journey begins to find out where it came from, and we are created with Horizon Zero Dawn.
Look out for the second part of this blog to see the other exciting announcements from Sony at E3 2016!
