Something else which you might have noticed is a brand new button in the bottom right corner. If you click on that, you’ll find that this is now where your journal lives. The journal looks the way it did before, so you’ll be very familiar with it if you used it before. The other cool thing is that you can customize your character, so you can change them to match your team colours, or just to fit the mood at any time you like to. It’s not just your character clothes either, you can also swap between the two genders at will, which is brilliant! Of course when you are done press the tick and it saves it, everything is groovy.
So next we are in the setting menu. Now for me I still have the ‘Battery Saver’ mode button available to me. However, there are some people on iOS and various different versions of Android who have reported that the button is basically gone, however if they turn their phone upside down it apparently still works in the same way as before. So maybe they just decided to have it on as default.
Moving on to the Pokémon page where there are a couple of differences that you are going to notice straight away. This includes the spacing between the Pokémon which has become a lot nicer, they have gone for a bolder and unique font which is quite nice.
Poor Vaporeon, which was one of the most powerful Pokémon in the entire game, has actually been nerfed! So in terms of the statistics, its Aqua Tail ability has been dropped by 10% as that was giving a lot of damage and in a very short amount of time, although in exchange for that at the Hydro Pump ability has been boosted by 50%. They have also made various different tweaks to other different Pokémon as well, but none of them stand out quite as much as this one. So that means that if you have been pouring stardust and Eevee candy into a Vaporeon it’s kind of led to nothing.
If we scroll down to the bottom of a Pokémon’s page as well you’ll notice that it now ends at the date. It no longer ties to show you the map of where you actually found the Pokémon and grabbed it. I think that if they do implement a trading system, they don’t want people to know where it came from, as obviously that could get all kinds of messy and stalkery.
Something else which you may have noticed missing from the bottom of the page is the ‘Transfer’ button, now worry not it is still here, all you have to do is press the little options menu in the bottom corner, and there you have ‘Favourite’ and ‘Transfer’. Which now means you can literally press a Pokémon, press the menu, press ‘Transfer’, confirm, and candy! Which is easier than having to click, and scroll, and if it doesn’t react to that scroll you got to do it a second time.
