he fifth episode of Rick and Morty called The whirly dirly conspiracy opens up with Rick dragging Jerry out of his hotel bed to have their own adventure, mainly at the behest of Morty because he tells Rick that he’s worried about him and Rick does it mostly out of pity, which amusingly we later find out in the episode it’s because Morty wanted to have a break away from Rick and the problems he brings.
Rick and Jerry head to an amusement park where the gimmick is that everyone inside it is immortal, they demonstrate this by having a person that rick knows throw a spear into Rick’s chest, Rick retaliates in kind and greet each other like old friends, which is pretty entertaining. Meanwhile with the rest of the family has their own problems as Summer has issues with her mother not giving her enough praise about her looks and goes into rick’s garage to see if something could improve it, which she does in the form of an enlargement ray, which she left on for too long and grows into the size of a giant.
Jerry during a bathroom break is caught by an enemy of Rick and plans to assassinate him at the roller coaster since that’s where the immortally field has a point where it’s just out of its range, he also tries to coerce Jerry into helping with his plan, which he disagrees at first but when Rick says that he’s the main reason that he broke up with Beth, he then wants him dead. After Jerry changes his mind about killing rick when they’re both on the ride because he apologised about breaking them up. Things go wrong soon after with the roller coaster breaking apart and destroying the immortality field, which has some funny and morbid moments.
Back on earth Morty is cynical about Beth trying to fix Summer’s giant problem when they could just call Rick about it and ask him to fix the issue but Beth disagrees and thinks she can fix it herself which ends up with making things worse. Rick after a short trip on the planet’s surface, ends up back on the ship and ends up killing the would be assassin after an acid trip though a wormhole. Overall this episode is a great return to form after the last three episodes being mediocre at best.
