I winked at Tyler, “And best mates know when to make themselves scarce!” and made to move off. He caught my arm with his hand. I was glad I was wearing sleeves but still slid out from under his grasp all the same.
“Hey, besties before anyone; right!” he said. Something we’d said as kids, we’d always put each other before anyone else.
“Tyler we’re not seven anymore.” I said simply. “I have to go, Sting’s food is getting cold.”
To be honest I was jealous. I couldn’t even figure why, but I was. Seeing him kissing Bonnie like that. My blood had run cold as I’d opened the door and there they were. It was one thing ‘knowing’ Tyler had girls, it was something totally different ‘knowing’ Tyler had girls if you know what I mean?
Tyler’s hand grabbed me again. “What’s with this Sting business?” he asked.
“I’m ‘with’ Sting.” I said simply.
“What do you mean? You’re ‘with’ Sting?” His tone was demanding. Bonnie was getting fed up and kicked his leg gently to get some attention.
“Fuck off!” He said to her before turning his attention back to me. “When did ‘THAT’ fucking happen!” It wasn’t a question, it was a fury filled demand. Bonnie stormed off, clearly expecting him to follow ‘her’.
I said; “Tyler we’ll talk later!” Nodding at him to go after Bonnie but instead he started following me over to Sting.
“Hey Sting! So you and Starr, huh?” There was something in his tone, he was playing ‘the big brother’.
“Sting; sorry I guess I should have realised Tyler would go all big brother on me…” I said smiling.
“Don’t worry Tyler, I’ll look after her!” Sting said politely.
“You’d better!” Tyler said. At that Bonnie came up behind him and started to pull him away. Tyler snorted, backed up a few steps and walked off putting his arm around Bonnie’s shoulder but looking back at me and Sting.
“So you told him about us?”
“I sort of let him jump to his own conclusion. I told him I was with you, and he took it that I was ‘with’ you.” I laughed and Sting kissed me. Tyler ran back and floored him with one punch.
