retty much though, we spent our summer together. Tyler even came on D & D with me and the gang, only for like an hour a week and I could see his heart wasn’t really in it, but he tried. So I cheered him on at his football games of a weekend, along with about two dozen other girls.
The first week of college we walked in together. Tyler soon picked up with a girl and by the second week I was hitching a lift on the back of Sting's motorbike. Sting was a year older than us at seventeen, nearly eighteen and had been the year above at school.
Still of an evening Tyler would text and ask how my day had gone and we were sharing some of the same classes so I saw him in those.
By week three and homework was being doled out, Tyler suddenly became a permanent fixture at my house twice a week as we arranged study nights to get our homework done. This was hard work. Tyler was naturally athletic, he was also slightly hyperactive and concentrating had never been his strong point. He wanted to do a sports science degree and needed mathematics and biology, two of my favourite subjects. It took at least four attempts at anything to get it to sink in with him and even then he forgot it five minutes later.
Week four and we were into October, our seventeenth birthdays were looming as so were driving lessons, so my mum took us down the industrial estate to get some practise in. In this time Tyler had four different girls that ‘I’ knew of.
Sting asked me one Friday evening as he was dropping me off at home; how I felt about ‘Tyler’. “He’s my bestie.” I said proudly.
“But you and he?”
“Ewww rank!” I said laughing. Sting kissed me.
“Good.” He said before putting his helmet on and riding away. I watched him go. I was suddenly gushing like a silly schoolgirl but it had actually been my ‘first’ kiss. Apart from that time when we were about ten and there was a stupid game of spin the bottle down the park and Tyler had to kiss me. Everyone had made fun and I ran home crying. That however didn’t count. This had been my first ‘real’ kiss.
Sting picked me up about seven and we went to Mc D’s for food. The drive through was chocca so we parked up and I went in while Sting waited on the bike. He was having problems starting it so he was leaving it running.
As I exited, Tyler was by the door with Bonnie Thorpe and they had their tongues wrapped around each others tonsils. Also, if I wasn’t mistaken he had his hand down her pants. I honestly deliberately looked away and carried on going.
“Hey Starr!” Freya Hudson called out.
“Hey!” I called back.
“Hey Starr!” Tyler this time. “Hey!” I called back to him.
“You weren’t going to say hey?” He asked clearly surprised.
“You were a bit busy!” I said looking meaningfully at Bonnie.
“But you’re supposed to be my best mate!” Tyler said and he sounded genuinely hurt.
