ey guys my name is Andy. I suffer with depression and uncontrollable mood swings unless I take medication. I'm here to tell you about a website I stumbled upon totally by chance!
We are now well into the 21st century and finally mental health issues are being discussed in an open forum and we even have TV commercials telling us it's ok to not be ok. This is something I never thought would happen as it was very different back in the 80’s & 90’s. They were the 'don’t talk about it and pull yourself together' days. Very different to now and even though things aren’t perfect at the moment, they are at least getting better.
So, The One Project? What can I tell you about this amazing community of people? Well, it is literally a website/app for anyone suffering from mental health issues who feels that expressing themselves via sharing photos could be therapeutic. My first post was daunting because I wasn’t sure if (a) my photo was good enough & (b) was what I shared with it in words actually of any use to anyone? Well, my fears were alleviated when the comments began to roll in! I immediately felt part of something, people related to what I said & it turned out the pixel quality of a photo is irrelevant. It's what the photo means to you & how others can relate to it that matters.
I have been a member for just over three months now & I have new friends eager to listen, as well as being keen to share their lives with me. The group is worldwide, so you’ll make friends with people from all walks of life & with different issues. All you need is a phone, tablet or PC & a desire to feel part of something new!
So, what are you waiting for?
