Here’s my review of August and September. It’s all about our brilliant guests on the radio show, top tv shows, and films I’ve been watching, the food I’ve been cooking and my famous face this month is Steven Seagal.
Radio: As we celebrate our 10th Birthday we’ve had a lot of live music on the show. Reece, Christina Smith and Double KD came in for a chat. One of my favourite guests was Elle who not only was starting her own fashion business in Risca but also held an event in Newport Market last weekend.
TV: The Circle is a new reality show on Channel 4. It’s a bit like big brother in terms that they all live together in a block of flats but they can’t see each other and can only communicate through a social media site called ‘The Circle’. Contestants are ‘evicted’ by being blocked from the site.
I’ve been watching the Grimm. There are now two Grimms in the show, one male and one female. This series is about the books of the Grimm. The Demons are after the books as that will enable them to release more demons into the world taking over the human population.
I’ve been watching the new series of Great British Bake-off. They were making a chocolate ball with a cake inside. The tricky bit is the ball itself as they can break easily. Talking of food….
Food: This month I’ve been cooking Lamb (not Lamsie!). I use oil around the Lamb itself with Tumeric and a little oil in the bottom of the meat tray. I then baste the Lamb halfway through the cooking. I cooked mine for 50 minutes as it was a joint for one. I like to put 5-6 potatoes in the tray at the end too and serve with beef gravy and mint sauce.
Films: In August I went to see ‘the spy who dumped me’ starring Mila Kunis. It wasn’t my cup of tea. Even though it was funny I felt it jumped from one thing to another and I felt that I was missing a part of the puzzle that wasn’t there. Not enough action for me. ‘The Meg’ was another film I’ve watched starring Jason Statham. I would describe it as a cross between Jaws and Die Hard. I found it funny and scary. I enjoyed it an I expect there to be a ‘Meg 2’ In September I’ve seen ‘The Predator’. I really like the original trilogy and I like the comic books. The storyline is completely different to what I expected as it’s a new version of the original. The team in the new version (led by Olivia Munn) wasn’t a patch on the team (led by Arnold Schwarzenegger).
