anuary, for me, has been all about getting the radio show back to normal, cooking different food other than cakes and watching more movies. I'll also tell you about the film that I’m most looking forward to in February.
After a bit of a break while Lamsie was sunning himself in Benidorm we were back to ‘normal’ on the 8th January. I’m happy that the reggae selection is back every week just after 5.45pm every Monday. Before that is the ‘extreme’ track which is a song which doesn’t fit in with the rest of the show. On the 15th I chose 'Happy Birthday' by Stevie Wonder. This was to commemorate Martin Luther King’s birthday. It’s important for me to represent the Black community and bring this to Newport City Radio.
I watched TV on New Year’s Eve and had a glass of champagne to welcome in 2018. Lamsie recorded my catchphrase, “you said it”, which can be heard on our show, but secretly I was the 2nd voice heard on Newport City radio as they streamed live from Atlantica Bar. Noddy Holder was the 1st voice with his catchphrase “Happy new year”.
This month I’ve been learning to cook a Sunday roast. I season the meat first and pop it in the fridge while I prepare the vegetables. My faves are carrots, potato, broccoli and cauliflower. The next job after putting the veg in the fridge is to wash my hands and then put the oven on gas mark seven. I pop the chicken on a tray in the oven with some sunflower oil. I add some partly boiled potatoes later for roasties. I cook my veg for about 50 minutes before the meat is cooked. It's the time for a cuppa! I use some of the water to make gravy with granules. When its all cooked and put on the plate I add mint sauce… whether it’s Lamb or not!
I’ve been to see Coco. It all about a boy passing over from life to death to see his favourite musician. He learns that his hero was not the man he thought he was. Even though I don’t like death I found there was good humour in the film and I enjoyed it.
Black Panther is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel. I’m looking forward to seeing this movie in February after seeing the character in Captain America: Civil War.
I think this will be very good and people will like it if you liked Avengers, Captain America and Thor.
Here’s the trailer for the movie:
Catch Ean (DJ EJ) every Monday from 5pm with Lamsie and Chloe.
