rey fought with the lift while Gong-Huk headed for the stairs. Armand took after Gong-Huk, eventually Frey gave up with the lift and took off down the stairs after the other two. Horrified, they watched as her car sped out of the underground car park and just cleared two cars at the exit. Gong-Huk's chauffeur driven car was out front, he pulled the driver from the seat and took the controls. Frey couldn’t imagine a worse person catching up to her, Armand had got their car and pulled round just after Gong-Huk.
She hit the docks doing 70 and gaining, still crying. As she raced toward the end of the pier Gong-Huk prayed if she got out of this alive he'd never leave her side again. He couldn’t believe she was going to drive her car off the pier and into the river. Armand and Frey pulled in behind Gong-Huk. Frey was screaming "NO, NO, NO," over and over and hitting the invisible brake with his foot, praying she would stop, soon.
They watched as she hit the brakes, the car fishtailed and skidded sideways down the pier, she wasn’t going to stop in time. If she was going over the pier, Gong-Huk decided he was going with her.
Suddenly she swung the car so it was facing toward Gong-Huk's and stopped, touching the rails of the pier with the rear bumper. He managed to stop his car, nose to nose with hers.
They sat staring at each other through the windscreens of the cars, Frey bolted past Gong-Huk and was dragging Lowrie clear of her car before she got any ideas of reversing. Armand pulled Gong-Huk's door open and just put his hand on his arm, it was OK now, they were both OK, Armand had seen what Gong-Huk intended, if she had died, he was going to die too. Frey pulled Lowrie into his arms and suddenly Gong-Huk reacted, that was his wife!
Armand stopped him, “And that is my husband.” Gong-Huk looked at Armand as the words sank in, “Husband?” he asked. Armand nodded. Gong-Huk started laughing, uncontrollably. Suddenly he hugged Armand, he was so relieved. Relieved that Lowrie was alive, relieved that he was alive and relieved that his love rival had been a married gay man.
Gong-Huk went to Lowrie, "Nothing happened between Chang Xia and I, nothing Lowrie, I will take a polygraph test if that’s what it takes for you to believe me, but I swear, I’m yours I always have been!" at which he pulled her into a hug,
"Naneun dangsinman-eul saranghaeyo, I love only you!"
