Since the Formula 1 World Championships began in 1950, there have been several candidates for the title of 'greatest ever'. Fangio, Stewart, Prost, Schumacher, and most recently Sebastian Vettel. But for me, none of them compare to the genius of Ayrton Senna.
Senna was World Champion three times, in 1988, ‘90 and ‘91 and raced in Formula 1 for 10 years from 1984 up until he died in 1994.
He was considered the benchmark in Formula 1, before he was tragically killed at the San Marino GP at Imola in 1994, and is still considered to be the best even today, 20 years later.
